AJAY BIJLI OF PVR LIMITED RECEIVES ?EXHIBITOR OF THE YEAR? AWARD AT CINEASIA 2017: Ajay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director of PVR Limited, received the much acclaimed ?Exhibitor of the Year? Award at the CineAsia Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 14th December 2017 at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong. The prestigious award was presented by Mr. Robert Kirby, Co-Executive Chairman, and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, Village Roadshow and Mr. Vicha Poolvaraluck, Director and Chief Executive Officer, Major Cineplex. On receiving the award, Ajay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director of PVR Limited said, ?I am happy and honored to receive the ?Exhibitor of the Year' Award. In 1995 Bijli started PVR Cinemas, the largest cinema exhibition chain in India today. The company began as a joint venture agreement with Village Roadshow, a global film production and exhibition company of Australia, and within a few years established the multiplex format in India. Since its inception, PVR Limited has redefined the movie-going experience in the country. In 2012, the company acquired Cinemax and has taken over DT Cinemas in 2016.The brand currently serves approximately 75 million moviegoers and has 600 screens across India. Mr. Bijli has received many prestigious awards over the past such as the ?Asia Innovator of the Year? award at India Business Leader Awards, 2016 and Images Retail awarded him as the ?Most Admired Retailer of the year 2016?. In addition to these recognitions, Bijli has also been honored with eminent awards such as E&Y Entrepreneurial Award for Business Transformation, CNBC's Emerging India Award and Most Admired Multiplex Professional by CMO Asia?s Multiplex Excellence Award. Under his leadership, PVR Limited has also received the Fortune India?s Next 500 Big and Mid-size Company?s award. Mr. Bijli is on the Board of Trustees of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) and the founding member of FICCI Multiplex Association (India). He is also a member of The Film and TV Producers Guild (India), Young Presidents? Organization and is associated with the Central Board of Film Certification, Government of India.
PVR Cinemas signs a strategic deal with CJ4DPLEX to launch another 16 4DX screens in India: PVR Cinemas, India?s largest cinema exhibition company signed a strategic deal today with CJ 4DPLEX, an innovative cinema technology featuring moving seats and environmental effects. With this announcement, PVR retains its position in Indian market with 21 4DX theatres and becomes the major provider of 4DX experience in the country. The announcement was made at the CineAsia trade show being held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from December 11-14, 2017. The deal marks an extended association between the two leading players as PVR cinemas previously have three 4DX screens operational in the country at Noida, Mumbai and Bengaluru and furthermore, plans to add two more screens soon at new prominent sites. PVR and CJ4DPlex initially announced their partnership at CinemaCon in 2015. From the success of current locations; both partners plan their new roll-out for 4DX at PVR Cinemas? highest grossing theaters in Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Pune and others. With this extended partnership, PVR will add 16 more 4DX screens at its cinemas, taking the total to an impressive 21 4DX auditoriums in India by the end of 2019. PVR Cinemas lifts the curtain on Chanakya; reaches a mark of 600 screens: PVR Ltd., India's largest cinema exhibition chain, has revamped the iconic Chanakya cinema in South Delhi as the 'PVR ECX' multiplex. The three-screen, "PVR ECX" will be the city's first Enhanced Cinema Experience, where the contemporary design blends with the best in cinema technology.
